WORKSHOP SCHEDULE - A LA CARTE

INTENSIVES

  • THURSDAY March 18 11am-2pm EST
    Fancy 3hr Choreography Intensive
The scene is set: it’s 1928 and you’ve assembled a rag tag team of misfits to pull off the most epic of bank heists. You’ve got a flask of giggle juice, as much fringe as your knees can handle and a lot of big plans for all the cold hard cash and jewels you’re about to stuff in a burlap sack. Will you make it to the safe in time? This is a fast, dynamic choreography full of vim and vinegar where we take the best dance moves the roaring 20’s had to offer and seamlessly fuse it into a transnational fusion choreography. Borrowing movement from a style called Black Bottom, this jazz heavy choreography will introduce you to some challenging but fun phrases and a lot of sassy character work to pull it all together. We place a focus on honing the technique of more obscure movements and using your expressive face to tell the story of the dance. This choreography is guaranteed to be the bees knees- and you can take that right to the bank!

  • March 18- 11-2 EST
    Fire & Ice Synergy Dance*
Exploring the polarities in dance and expressions

Class will consist in Dance Combinations, Techniques, Expressions , Emotions, Confidence, Musicality, Exploring your own style, Graceful and Powerful movements.

  • ARMED & DANGEROUS
As dancers, we work so hard on isolating and controlling the muscles of our hips and torsos, it can be easy to neglect one of the most noticeable parts of our bodies - the arms! They have so much potential! We will take our arm game to the next level - working on shapes and moves, both sharp and smooth. Students will be learning exercises and postures to help make beautiful arm work into an effortless extension of their dance

  • Body Control & Waves NEW!
There is so much we can do; this workshop will be focused on waving and body control. We will start with the basics and get a little advanced. Let’s make waves go through our bodies and fuse them into belly dance. Edenia will show you how to make smooth transitions. Waving combos will be taught. We will break it down into sections to help understand how it is important to learn how to control these waves!

  • Shabbi
All about Shabbi. Learn an exciting and dynamic choreography to a chart toping Shabbi hit. This grounded earthy style is full of energy and passion. Don’t forget to breathe! Your audience will thank you. Shabbi anyone?

2 hours usually could be a little longer

  • Cairo Shimmies: Classic to Modern
An Egyptian Raqasat’s signature is in the hips. Miasia will take you through a variety of shimmies used in Raqs Sharqui. Not an Egyptian style dancer, this workshop is still for you. Each dancer will learn techniques for making bigger and better shimmies that can be seen in the largest concert hall.

  • A Taste of Turkish
Asymmetrical Rhythms, Fiery Footwork, and Flair
Fiery, passionate and unapologetic in its delivery, Turkish Oryantal pulls flavors from it's folkloric dances as well as Arabic Dance & more. Known for its asymmetrical rhythms, finger cymbal playing, floorwork and super sass, this style is a crowd-pleaser. In addition to learning rhythms and combinations, students in this workshop will also view footage of notable Turkish dancers such as Nesrin Topkapi and Tulay as well Romani style dancing to identify the similarities and distinctions.

  • Dynamic Dancing

Based out her foundational dance training in American Cabaret and her unique Fusion style, Liz will

  • Phenomenal Abdominal

In this workshop we will explore all things belly! Starting with some of Liz’s favorite conditioning exercises to wake up and strengthen our core, we will then explore different abdominal isolations that can be added to your dance. To top it off, we will work on layering some of these abdominal isolations on other hip and core movements to create more dynamics and texture to our torso. Please have a yoga mat or blanket, as some exercises will be on the floor.
